Information Provided by Michael D. Bulmash: A large department store founded in 1907 by Adolf Jandorf, it was taken over in 1927 by the Jewish-owned Hertie Company. With the Nazi rise to power in the 1930s, the race laws prohibited Jewish ownership and the department store was aryanized between 1935 and 1938. Includes a red and white pasted stamp in bottom left, and white pasted paper with typewritten and written information.Back: Two black circular hand stamps.Sent from the 1936 Olympic Games to stamp collector Leonhard Berger of Karlsruhe, this envelope has all eight official Deutsches Reich Olympische Spiele 1936 postage stamps and official cancellations from the Olympic Village. The envelope was sent to stamp collector Leonhard Berger of Karlsruhe and has event cancellations form the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. the original red border registration sticker is in the lower left corner. This envelope has all eight official Deutsches Reich Olympische Spiele 1936 postage stamps and four 35 mm round event cancellations from the Berlin Olympisch Dorf or Olympic Village dated 16 August 1936. Cover reads \u27Deutches Reich\u27 at top, an eagle with swastika within a wreath symbol at center, and \u27Arbeitsbuch\u27 at bottom. Interior includes 38 pages and a last, unnumbered page. Pages 1-7 include many handstamps and handwriting. There are no markings from page 8-31. Text begins on page 32 and continues to end. Information Provided by Michael D. Bulmash: The Arbeitsbuch grew out of a 1935 law requiring registration of work, and documentation of work history for German citizens-and only German citizens. Grey booklet titled, Deutsches Reich Kennkarte. Includes a black and white photograph of, and biological information about Herman Rosenbaum. Information Provided by Michael D. Bulmash: A Nazi identification document for Herman Rosenbaum, a Jew. The Kennkarte was a basic form of identification during the Third Reich, introduced in 1938. All citizens were expected to produce it when confronted by police or other officials of the state. Here the large J identified Rosenbaum as a Jew.
